ORP is the abbreviation of English Oxidation-Reduction Potential, which represents the oxidation-reduction potential of the solution. The ORP value is a measurement of the redox capacity of an aqueous solution, and its unit is mv. It consists of ORP composite electrode and mv meter. ORP electrode is an electrode that can absorb or release electrons on the surface of its sensitive layer. The sensitive layer is an inert metal, usually made of platinum and gold. The reference electrode is the same silver/silver chloride electrode as the pH electrode.

ORP is often used to continuously monitor the potential value in the solution, and pH meter is used to detect pH. A general pH meter can also measure the ORP value. On the display adjustment button on the pH meter, one of them is marked "mv" "The button with the words "mv" measures the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). The pH meter and the ORP meter can share a display meter, but use different electrodes. The ORP meter must use an ORP electrode.

Redox electrodes can be used with any pH/mv meter. There is no need to calibrate the ORP meter when using it. You can use it directly. Only when you have questions about the quality of the ORP electrode or the test results, you can use the ORP standard solution to check whether the potential is between 200-275mv to judge the quality of the ORP electrode or instrument. ORP measuring electrode (platinum or gold), its surface should be bright, rough or contaminated surface will affect the potential (mv) of the electrode.

Online monitoring of oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) can reflect the relative amounts of oxidizing substances or reducing substances in the pool. The ORP analyzer can also reflect the progress of oxidation and reduction. Using ORP indicators to adjust the process can achieve twice the result with half the effort. .
